Octoberfest Over 60’s & Disabled 3 Day Festival

There was 42 anglers completing over 3 days, (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) on a rotation of Coveys 3, 4 , 5 and 6.

Monday was always going to be a tough due to the rain fall over night. Martin Kershaw drew Peg 62 on Covey 3, a peg which has had quite good form of late and with wind blowing into it, it was always going to be a peg to beat. This was proven at the end of the match as he weight in with 105.09 lbs. Surprisingly he caught half of his fish shallow and the rest short. The Top Six weights from Monday were surprisingly good and Chris Weeder claimed 1 point off Peg 133 with 61.11lbs.

Wednesday saw the switch of lakes and fished slightly harder. Roy Bradburne took the match win from Covey 5 Peg 128 with 79.00 lbs using hard pellet and corn. A good weight also coming from Mike Astbury with 72.03lbs off Peg 107.

It was all still to play for on the final day with Chris Weeder on maximum points. All the other anglers were hoping that Chris had a bad day. However, with Chris on Peg 107 on Covey 5, it was going to be tough to beat him. On the final day, Chris beat everyone in his section with 45.11 lbs, but surprisingly he did not win the lake! Mick Bown with a weight of 46.10lbs off Peg 117, was the best weight from Covey 5. This was not a fancied peg so well done to Mick Bown, that is a great effort from there.
